Colyford is on the A3052 Lyme Regis to Exeter road, situated mid-way between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. Seaton is 2m away on the coast and Colyton is 1m further inland.
Granted a charter in 1341, the village flourished for the next 300 years as merchants and traders established themselves, taking advantage of the deep-water estuary of the River Axe which allowed sea-going vessels to berth at quays as far up as Colyford.
The highlight of the village year is its medieval Goose Fayre held every year on the Saturday closest to Michaelmas.
In Colyford, visitors will find a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets.
