Seaton Bay Devon's World Heritage Coastline

Pecorama

PECO Ltd is the UK’s largest UK manufacturer of model railway tracks and accessories.

PECO’s Head Office and factory stand high on the hill overlooking Beer and Lyme Bay and its grounds contain the celebrated PECORAMA gardens and  indoor model railway exhibition. There is also a model shop selling every thing a model railway enthusiast would want.

Much of Pecorama naturally has a railway theme, the model railway exhibition features numerous working model railway layouts whilst the Gardens are home to the famous Beer Heights Light Railway. This 7¼-inch narrow gauge passenger-carrying line, powered by miniature steam and diesel locomotives, winds its mile-long way through tunnels, loops and cuttings giving wonderful views of Beer and Lyme Bay.

Peco Millennium Garden.

These beautiful gardens are landscaped in various themes including a ruined tower upon which is set the Roof Garden. The Moat Garden waters drop down over granite boulders before flowing into the multi-coloured flowerbeds of the Rainbow Garden. The Moon Garden is planted with silvery foliage and blue flowers contrasting with the neighbouring golden yellow, flower-filled Sun Garden.

The Beer Heights Light Railway

B.H.L.R the finest 7¼ inch gauge railway in Britain first opened to the public on the 14 July 1975 and a ride on the railway offers wonderful views over Lyme Bay to distant Portland Bill.

The line is now one mile in length and includes a lengthy tunnel, bridges, passing loop, extensive sidings, one so steeply graded as to zigzag down to the "Beer Mine", set in the hillside above Wild way Park, stock sheds, and a large well-equipped workshop.

There are two extensive children’s' play areas, the first suitable for younger children whereas the second is an adventure playground suitable for older children.

PECO Loco Week
