Going Out in Seaton and the Axe Valley.

The Gateway at Seaton in East Devon is managed by Seatons Voice, a Community Interest Company (CIC). Previously it was an under used Town Hall which has been transformed into a vibrant and much used community asset by the dozens of volunteers who decided to transform it.

The Gateway’s Main Hall is an ideal venue and is used for concerts, theatrical productions, conferences, presentations, weddings or parties.

The recent addition of a full size cinema screen, digital projection and surround sound allow high definition live streaming via satellite from anywhere in the world.

There is a foyer with a staffed box office. The main hall is disabled-accessible for audience members.

The Royal Clarence is a welcoming bar close to the sea front on Harbour Road.

Popular with the local trade, it can get very busy on Friday nights and at weekends.

It has a large pool room at the rear which can be used by children as well as an outdoor covered boules pitch.

It serves a good range of beers and lagers at reasonable prices, but does not serve cooked meals.

Live music or DJ on Friday and Saturday nights during the season and at advertised dates out of season.

The Eyre Court Hotel in Queen Street is 150 yards from the beach.

It offers guests a warm welcome, good food and traditional award winning ales and beers in their friendly family run bars.

The licensed restaurant is very popular serving meals prepared to order using local produce wherever possible.

There is a large Conservatory which can be used for functions and a large outdoor seating area with tables under heated canopies.

The Vault Bar is on the sea front opposite Fisherman’s Gap with views across the bay towards Beer Head.

It is fairly small, so with a good crowd in, it has a good atmosphere and its light wood fittings and floor give it a modern feel.

They offer a range of lagers and beers including guest real ales as well as serving coffee and teas, they do not serve food.

The bar is licensed for over 18’s only, but families can use the outside tables on the seafront. Owners are allowed to take their dogs into the bar.

The Malt House in the Square is one of the oldest pubs in Seaton and is under new management after being refurbished for 2014.

Largely open plan with new furniture and fittings it specialises in meals throughout the day and evening.

It serves a wide range of good food, beers and lagers.

The Hook & Parrot is on the sea front over looking the bay. Spacious bar popular with families

Food all day up untill 8pm.

They serve a range of beers, including a choice of real ales, lagers and cider and also serve coffee and tea.

The bar is licensed for children with their parents up until 10.30pm.Their outside tables lookout over the Esplanade and seafront. Owners are allowed to take their dogs into the bar.

The Kings Arms is a traditional pub just out of the town centre up by the cricket ground.

Popular with locals and the visitors staying at the nearby caravan park it serves a good range of beers and real ales.

It has a good reputation for its food and can be very busy, particularly on Sundays when pre booking is recommended.

There is a large beer garden at the rear of the pub over looking the estuary to Axmouth with tables, play equipment for children and two boules pitches.
