Cyclists can stay at Twit Twoo using it as a base from which they can explore the many quiet Devon lanes along this stretch of the Jurassic Coast.

The Axe Valley where the river Axe runs down to the sea meandering through the flood plains of the estuary until it meets the sea at Axmouth Harbour has been designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Left alone and undeveloped for many years used only as grazing land, it has recently been recognised as an important habitat for species of migratory birds who visit it each year as part of their journey to and from their summer and winter feeding grounds.

Whilst the winter months see the arrival of birds which are migrating south to feed on the mud flats of the estuary the summer months see the arrival of the birds which arrive to breed and rais e their young.

This constant change make Twit Twoo and ideal base for bird watchers and twitchers who want to visit this area of East Devon.
Within walking distance are the nature reserves of Seaton, Marshes, Black Hole Marsh with its newly created salt water lagoon and Colyford Common Nature Reserves.

As well as viewing this birdlife from one of the purpose built bird hides in these Local Nature reserves, guests can ride on one of the narrow gauge historic trams of the Seaton Tramways allowing bird watchers to get closer to the birdlife on the marshes.

These electric trams run from the Seaton Terminus along side the estuary through Colyford to the mediaeval Saxon town of Colyton with its winding labyrinth of narrow streets and are enjoyed by visitors of all ages and as a major attraction of the area.
