Hooken Undercliff to Branscombe Mouth.

Walk Details

  • Distance: 1¼ miles.
  • Time: ¾ hours.
  • Height Range: Sea level to 120 metres.
  • Path: Uphill, strenuous and demanding.
  • Hills: steep.

On the walk from Beer to Branscombe Mouth, it is possible to vary the route by taking the path down Hooken Cliff into the Undercliff and along Hooken beach to Branscombe Mouth.

From Branscombe Mouth take the path back up and along the top of the cliffs turning the walk into a circular route

The path down into the Undercliff is very steep and made up of many steps. The Grizzly runners, run up these steps referring to them as the "stairway to heaven".

As the Undercliff is sheltered by the cliffs above.

You cannot see the sea or the cliffs.

As you get lower the cliffs tower above.

The path is still overgrown.
